ABOUT ME
SoPure.Millinery is a Stettin brand based on handcrafted tradition and classic design. For the past few years the SoPure workshop has designed and hand-sown hats, elegant toques, colorful fascinators, and small decorative elements such as clips, headbands, and flower crowns. From small elements to huge theatre pieces, for every occasion and celebration.
Why millinery?
Terry Pratchett once wrote: “You know what the greatest tragedy is in the whole world? It’s all the people who never find out what it is they really want to do or what it is they’re really good at. It’s all the people with talents who never even find out. Maybe they are never even born in a time when it’s even possible to find out.”
Why did I choose millinery? I can’t say. Because it’s actually millinery that chose me – though I was born during a time when it’s difficult to learn this craft. In spite of that, I had the incredible luck to meet a very talented milliner, who introduced me to the secrets of traditional millinery art and showed me who I really am.
And now I am certain: I am a milliner by choice.
How do I work?
The entire creative process is completed in accordance with the principles of handicraft, from the moment the designs are formed in wooden blocks, until they are sown and decorated by hand.
My work combines traditional handcrafted quality with modern design (classic elegance in a contemporary format). My creation philosophy is based on two core principles: slow fashion, zero waste – which I seek to express through precision and quality of work. This philosophy has recently seen a resurgence in popularity, though it is really a return to the artisanal traditions of the past where such conventions where the norm.
SoPure’s methodology is based in the use of traditional millinery forms and high-quality natural materials, combining traditional and contemporary techniques, classic quality with stylish modernity, and all with the aim of achieving the perfect result.
My work combines that which is old and good with the new and modern.
